- VVV
- The main Venice ecosystem token on Base. You can stake it for yield, lock it (as sVVV) to mint DIEM, or hold it. Staking 100 VVV can also unlock free Venice Pro access while staked.

- sVVV
- Staked VVV — the receipt you get when you stake VVV (typically 1:1). sVVV is what participates in staking yield. When people say “mint rate in sVVV,” they mean how much staked VVV is locked per DIEM minted.
- Staking (VVV)
- Depositing VVV into Venice’s staking system so it becomes sVVV and can earn emissions yield. Normal staking is flexible compared with locking sVVV to mint DIEM.
- See: VVV staking guide
- Unstaking (7-day period)
- After you unstake, there is a 7-day wait before VVV is returned. During that window you typically earn no yield and lose staking-related benefits (including minting DIEM). Plan ahead if you need liquidity.

- DIEM
- A utility token for tokenized inference: when staked/used per Venice rules, 1 DIEM ≈ $1.00/day of Venice API access ($1.00 = 100 credits), ongoing. You can mint DIEM by locking sVVV, or buy DIEM on the open market.
- See: What 1 DIEM buys you · How to mint
- Tokenized inference
- Owning capacity as a token instead of only paying a monthly bill. DIEM packages ongoing API budget ($1/day per DIEM while staked/used) into a transferable unit you can mint, buy, hold, or sell.
- Minting DIEM
- Creating new DIEM by locking sVVV at the current mint rate. Your VVV is not spent — it is locked as collateral. You keep ~80% of normal staking yield on that locked VVV (~7.2% APY when normal staking is ~9%). To get the VVV back, you burn the matching DIEM.
- See: How to mint · Hidden costs of minting
- Mint rate (sVVV per DIEM)
- How many sVVV you must lock to mint 1 DIEM. Higher rate = more expensive mint vs buying DIEM at market. The rate moves with the bonding curve / supply target — always re-check before locking. This guide’s mint rate is updated manually when it changes.
- See: Mint vs Buy calculator · homepage Acquisition Cost Gauge
- Lock (locked sVVV)
- sVVV committed as collateral while DIEM you minted is outstanding. Locked VVV still earns reduced yield (~7.2% APY in current guide assumptions). It is not freely transferable until you burn DIEM to release it.
- Burn DIEM to unlock VVV
- Destroying DIEM (the amount that matches what you minted) to release the locked sVVV. If you sold the minted DIEM, you may need to buy DIEM back at market before you can unlock — that is re-acquisition risk.
- See: Hidden costs of minting
- Buy DIEM on market
- Purchasing existing DIEM (e.g. DEX) at the live market price. You get the same DIEM utility as minting. Bought DIEM does not earn locked-VVV yield — there is no mint lock attached. Often cheaper than minting when the mint premium is high.

- Yield / APY
- Staking rewards from VVV emissions, shown as annual percentage yield (APY) in this guide. Rough guide figures: normal VVV staking ~9% APY; locked sVVV while minting DIEM ~7.2% APY (~80% of normal). Rates change with emissions and stake share — treat as estimates.

- Venice Pro (via 100 VVV)
- Venice’s paid chat tier. Staking 100 VVV can grant Pro access while staked (instead of paying the monthly/yearly subscription). Your VVV stays yours and can still earn staking yield.
- See: Pro Access ROI calculator
- Programmatic VVV burns
- Protocol buy-and-burn of VVV funded by usage: a share of API credit purchases and subscription tiers (Pro / Pro+ / Max) is used to buy VVV and burn it.
